By placing an order for an expired item in our “SPECIALS” section, you acknowledge that you are aware that it may be past it’s prime quality and safety, purchasing the product at your own risk, and release the seller from any responsibility or liability.
Return and Refunds policy
All products displayed on our website are subject to availability. We will contact you as soon as possible if any products ordered are not available, with an option for a refund or replacement of a similar product.
Shipping Orders:
Please consider your location and South African weather conditions before making your purchase, as we do not offer any guarantees or refunds on any products with chocolate, that may arrive with heat damage.
No returns will be accepted for foodstuff or other product intended for everyday consumption due to the Public and Food Safety Regulations applicable at The German Shop.
Once payment has been made by the customer, the online order cannot be cancelled. Should you for any reason wish to cancel your online purchase, you will be liable for a 15% handling fee. If you have any queries, please contact us before making any purchases through this website.
If you have a change of mind, you can return a product to us for a refund within 3 days of receipt. We do not accept or refund opened and/or used products. Shipping costs for the return will be for your account. Once we have inspected the originally sealed product and validated your return, we will refund you the purchase price of the product within 10 days of the return.
If you receive the wrong product, please contact us within 2 working days. We will check our system to see whether a miss pick has occurred. If there was a miss pick we will arrange to swop the product for the correct one. Shipping will be on our account.
The German Shop is not responsible for any returned product that is lost during shipment. No refund will be considered. Make sure that returned product has a tracking number and is properly insured.
In the event that products are damaged in transit, we will work with you to file a claim with the courier company. Please take a photo of the damaged product and email it to us.
Defective Products
We do our best to ensure that the products we deliver to you are of a high quality, and without defects.
A defect is a material imperfection in the manufacture of a product or any characteristic of a product, which makes the product less acceptable than one would reasonably be entitled to expect in the circumstances.
The following will NOT be regarded as a defect and will not entitle you to a return:
- faults resulting from normal wear and tear
- damage arising from negligence, user abuse or incorrect usage of the product
- damage arising from a failure to adequately care for the product
- damage arising from moisture or sea air corrosion
- damage arising from unauthorized alterations to the product
If a warranty product turns out to be defective, please notify us and we will assist you further.

Card transactions will be acquired for The German Shop via PayGate (Pty) Ltd who are the approved payment gateway for all South African Acquiring Banks. PayGate uses the strictest form of encryption, namely Secure Socket Layer 3 (SSL3) and no Card details are stored on the

Customer details separate from card details
Customer details will be stored by The German Shop separately from card details which are entered by the client on PayGate’s secure site. For

The merchant outlet country at the time of presenting payment options to the cardholder is South Africa. Transaction currency is
South African Rand (ZAR).
